Turned off Star Wars Battlefront II purchases after player criticism of loot crates
DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson announced that all in-game purchases in Star Wars Battlefront II, which DICE developed with Criterion and Motive, were being turned off hours before launch, after players objected that paid crates and crystals could speed up unlocking heroes and gameplay upgrades. Belgium's Gaming Commission left the game out of its April 2018 loot-box findings because paid purchases had been removed, and when purchases returned in 2018 only cosmetic items were sold.
