  1. Investigation

Named in EU consumer authorities' coordinated action on in-game currencies

The EU's Consumer Protection Cooperation Network launched coordinated actions against nine video game companies, including Supercell Oy, to ensure they apply its principles on in-game virtual currencies, such as clear real-money pricing, clear information before purchase, fair terms and protection of vulnerable consumers including children. Authorities said dialogue with the companies had not brought satisfactory results; no breach of law had been established.

  2. Other

Removed paid random rewards for players in Brazil

A Brazilian Ministry of Justice technical note on the ECA Digital law, which bans loot boxes for minors, listed Clash Royale, Brawl Stars and Clash of Clans among games that removed or replaced paid random rewards for all Brazilian players and added age verification.

  3. Game preservation

Ended Squad Busters; servers close in December 2026

Supercell ended active development of Squad Busters, saying the game "did not reach the long-term quality bar we hold ourselves to", and stopped in-app purchases on 30 October 2025. Players who had made purchases in 2025 could request a transfer of their value to another Supercell game until the end of 2025. Supercell later said the game would be removed from app stores on 1 December 2026 and shut down on 14 December 2026, after which it cannot be played offline or on private servers.

  4. Game preservation

Ended Clash Mini and shut down its servers

Supercell stopped developing Clash Mini, disabled purchases and began shutting down its servers in late April 2024. It offered to transfer players' purchases to another Supercell game on request and said it would bring the Clash Mini experience to Clash Royale.

  5. Other

Suspended its games for players in Russia and Belarus

Citing the war in Ukraine, Supercell cut off access to all its games for existing players in Russia and Belarus, after removing the games from app stores there in March 2022.

  6. Good practice

Removed random Brawl Boxes from Brawl Stars

Supercell removed Brawl Boxes, which gave random rewards, from Brawl Stars on 12 December 2022, automatically opening any unclaimed boxes. Characters (Brawlers) instead unlock in a set order on a 'Starr Road' using Credits earned in the game, or can be bought directly with Gems. Supercell later said player numbers fell in early 2023 after the boxes were removed, which led it to introduce random 'Starr Drop' rewards; in 2025 it said random rewards were 'here to stay'.
